# External Conditions
## Temperature Mode
The default 'Monthly Mean' temperature, is automatically calculated from hourly values based on the climate file for the location. The 'Monthly Mean of Daily Minimum' or 'Fixed' temperatures can also be selected, referring to the average of the lowest temperature values recorded each day over a month or simply a fixed value.
Where a more conservative assumption is required associated to the external temperature, it can be modified under 'Change Temperature', shifting the external climate temperature by the stated value. For example, a -2.0 °C will modify the climate file for the location, resulting in lower internal temperatures.
## Relative Humidity Mode
The default 'Monthly Mean' relative humidity, is automatically calculated from hourly values based on the climate file for the location. The 'Monthly Mean of Daily Minimum' or 'Fixed' relative humidity can also be selected, referring to the average of the lowest temperature values recorded each day over a month or simply a fixed value.
Where a more conservative assumption is required associated to the external relative humidity, it can be modified under 'Change Relative Humidity', shifting the external climate by the stated value. For example, a +5% will modify the climate file for the location increasing all data points by 5%, resulting in higher external relative humidity.
