# Select a Template

A Template is a ready-made set of materials designed to represent a Wall, Roof or Floor System. Templates can come directly from suppliers, be provided as generic options or be custom-built by you to suit your specific need

## Supplier Template

When a supplier has approved a Wall, Roof, Floor or Glazing System template, it’s because the template either reflects how the system was tested or shows how the supplier intends their products to be used. Some of these templates have materials locked into specific positions to make sure they’re used correctly. Others are fully unlocked, giving you the flexibility to update all materials as needed.

## Typical Template

Generic templates, found under 'Typical Templates', represent standard construction solutions. These templates are fully unlocked, so you can adjust all material assumptions to suit your needs, giving you maximum flexibility.

## Empty Template

As the name suggests, an empty template starts with no material information. It’s ideal for those who want to build a system from scratch, especially when neither supplier nor typical templates offer the right solution.
