# Using Envelope Settings

To customise envelope settings, first navigate to the zone you want to modify. This can be done for one or several zones, depending on your project needs. In the drawing space, select the zone and open the zone panel.

{% hint style="danger" %}
Please note that any envelope settings applied at the zone level will override those set at the whole building level. Use this option when you need precise control, but for most workflows, our tagging system offers a faster and more consistent way to manage envelope settings across your model.
{% endhint %}

## Update Wall Envelope Settings

To adjust wall envelope settings, left-click directly on the wall in question. This will bring up the envelope settings for windows, walls, glazed doors and opaque doors.

## Update Roof and Floor Envelope Settings

To update roof or floor envelope settings, click on 'Using Envelope Settings' in the left panel and navigate to the relevant tab – either 'Roof' or 'Floor'. In this example, we’ll use 'Floor'. Then select the Floor settings required.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.betterbuilding.io/user-guide/2d-building/drawing/using-envelope-settings.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
