# Set a Purpose

A Purpose defines how a zone or space is intended to be used, and it's particularly important for daylight modelling. Assigning the correct purpose ensures the model reflects how each area functions throughout the day, supporting more accurate analysis.

## Set a Space Purpose

To add a space purpose, start by selecting the relevant Space. Click on the ‘Space Settings’ button, then navigate to the ‘Create Custom’ and left-click. From the dropdown menu, select the appropriate Purposes. Note, you can rename default Purpose names should you prefer a specific Purpose to be referenced in your results. Then, and click ‘Save’.
