# Designer Mode Access

Designer Mode is an Objective based system to enable you to gain complete control and go beyond the objectives of minimum compliance while reusing the geometry and specification.

## Convert to Designer

To access Designer, navigate to any Project and open the ellipses menu on a 2D or 3D model. Click 'Convert to Designer (Preview)' from the pop-up menu. You’ll be prompted to give the new design a 'Title'. Once you're happy, click 'Convert'. You’ll then return to the Project view, where you’ll see a duplicated version of your original design, now marked with a Designer icon in the top left corner. From here, you can access Designer simulations to run targeted models for Green Star, NABERS, LEED, and more.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.betterbuilding.io/support-and-training/other-support/faqs/building/designer-mode-access.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
